We’re all prisoners in a castle of lies
Are they the enemy, or are they a friend?
Is it better to be stiff or better to bend?
Constantly guessing, and always unsure
Never the right time, never secure
A collection to hold the secrets within
Stored away deep under my skin.
Have a glance. Take a peak.
Warning: it’s dark and usually bleak.
The past and the present often converge
They battle it out before they merge.
Confusing the current time and place
With an outdated one I’d rather not face.
Am I here? Am I there?
Do I exist anywhere?
Who are they? Who am I?
I’ll never find out if I don’t try.
I learned the rules and played the game.
I didn’t win anything but shame.
Old records play permanently on repeat.
Guiding my hands and moving my feet.
I never expected to make it this long.
I never expected to finish the song.
But, here I am, and there’s the stage.
Finish the chapter and turn the page.
Don’t judge the contents of the poisoned lake.
The fish are alive with risks to take.
The darkness is darker once you’ve seen the light
Recovery is worth the grueling fight
